We went out with Roman, our American Facilitator today. Had our first Ukranian food, it was good. Nice to be with someone who reads and speaks the language. Seems that no one here speaks English and nothing is written in English. I have spotted a coffee shop, but the locals seem to drink tea. Roman showed us around town. There are a lot of monuments, cathedrals etc right here in this area. Weather is above freezing and sunny. We went to a large underground shopping mall right by our apartment. There won't be any big adoption news until Tuesday.
We'll just hope for the best!!

Here at last

Well we finally made it to Ukraine. Very long and uncomfortable flight. Kiev is very large, have only gone to grocery store and to the apartment so far. Very clean apartment, bedroom, living room, kitchen, and little balcony. We are right in the middle of downtown, with lots of cathedrals nearby. Trying to figure out electrical situation. Thanks to everyone for all of the phone calls and emails we have received. We are so thankful to have so many great friends and family!! Will post pics later.

Leaving for Ukraine

Well we're finally leaving!! We'll be in New York city Friday morning, and in Kiev on Saturday morning (their time). We have a few days to sight see and get acclimated before our appointment at the National Adoption Center on Tuesday. Hope we don't freeze to death!!

Countdown to the trip

The countdown is on!!! We will be flying out on January 18, 2008. After waiting so long, it is finally coming fast.

Finally some news!

After 3 months of waiting we FINALLY have an appointment at the Ukrainian Adoption Center. It is January 22nd 2008. It is still a long way off, but we can spend the holidays here and make final travel plans.

Waiting and Preparing for Travel

Hi to all family and friends. We are just beginning our adoption webpage, as an efficient way to keep everyone updated on our progress and experiences. We have been working on our adoption since January 2007, and now in August are waiting for our inviation to travel to Ukraine. As we wait, we are in the process of organizing and preparing our house for being away for several weeks, and for the future arrival.
